Absences Excuses do not change the fact that a student is tardy or absent They simply become excused tardies and absences and can ultimately impact the students' performance and grades when excessive. A student is allowed only 10 absences per semester. We will offer some opportunity to make up days in recovery at a rate of 1 hour per class missed. We will offer four Saturday recovery days each semester. Students may receive credit for up to four hours each Saturday they attend. After 10 absences & no Recovery has been completed, that student must fail that class. It is the responsibility of the student to request work missed due to absence from school.
Tardy Policy
Students are expected to be in the school building each day by 8:00 a.m. Students who report to 1st period after 9:00 will be admitted to class, but will be counted absent for that class only. Students who arrive after the 8:05 tardy bell are considered late, and must adhere to the consequences listed below.
3rd Tardy – letter to parents
6th Tardy- parents will be called
9th Tardy-ABC parent/student conference
12th Tardy-student loses his/her first period class (subject to a school committee meeting)
If students lose their first period class, they will be allowed to enter the building no earlier then 9:30 am and no later than 9:50am. Students must be aware of flex scheduling on Wednesdays. Students may eventually lose their second period class for continued tardies and expulsion from school may occur for students who are habitually late despite school rules.
It is the responsibility of every student to arrive at school prepared and on time daily.
