The Department of Public Instruction is invoking its authority as an Ed-flex state to issue waivers for one year of section 1119(a)(1) of PL 107-110 (No Child Left Behind). Section 1119(a)(1) requires that all teachers of core academic subjects in Title I schools hired after the first day of the 2002-2003 school year be highly qualified.
The Crossroads Charter High School will submit a waiver request to the Department of Public Instruction. The Crossroads Charter High School fully supports the intent of the No Child Left Behind legislation, and is committed to providing all students with highly qualified teachers. The decision to request a waiver is based on a thoughtful analysis of the options available to us.
